What “one-trip” means
Most new shipping containers are built overseas and shipped to the U.S. once, usually carrying cargo, which covers the cost of moving the box. After that single trip they’re sold as one-trip, or new. Expect clean paint, tight door seals, straight panels and little or no wear, though a one-trip box can have minor scuffs or handling marks.
Why buy new
- Appearance: clean, even paint for customer-facing sites, offices and homes.
- Longer life: no years of salt air and handling behind it.
- Easier conversions: straight walls and a clean floor make insulation and fit-out simpler.
- Predictable condition: less variation from unit to unit than used grades.

Good to know
Questions and answers
Is a one-trip container really new?
It has made one voyage, usually with cargo inside, so it isn’t untouched, but it’s as close to new as shipping containers get. Minor scuffs from handling are normal.
Can I choose the color of a new container?
Factory colors depend on what’s available. If you need a specific color, custom paint can be added as a modification.
Are new containers available in 8ft and 10ft?
Yes. Our 8ft and 10ft units are sold new, used or customized.
Can I rent a new container?
Ask when you request a quote. You can also buy new on a rent-to-own plan.
